Florianopolis is the most influential city of Santa Catarina and the second-largest city in the south of Brazil. The New York Times published that Florianopolis is the party destination, and one must visit Florianopolis at least once in a lifetime. In this article,
Dr Kausthub Desikachar shares a short guide to Florianopolis, Brazil.

The economy of Florianopolis is massively based on Information Technology and tourism services. Can you believe that the city has 60 beaches? Well, Yes! It’s a coastal city, while half of it extends on the mainland and many neighbouring small islands. The other half is on the magical Island known as Santa Catarina Island.

Florianopolis is named the magical Island, but locals usually call it Floripa. There are countless reasons after Florianopolis’ skyrocketing boost in tourism and popularity. Florianopolis is a blooming target destination for its sublime long beaches, being the hub for surfing activities, lots of water activities, gourmet seafood, and juxtaposition of a contemporary megacity with 16th-century colonial forts, open markets, beautiful nature parks, waterfalls, hilly jungles, lush forest mountains, lakes, sand dunes and much more. Florianopolis is a vibrant city filled with great restaurants serving fresh food, bars to experience Brazilian nightlife, luxury resorts and hotels, cheap hotels for backpackers, and a generally safe place for tourists. Furthermore, the listing of sports and activities you could explore and have fun on the Island is nearly boundless, from laying on the beach to surfing, scuba diving, hiking, paragliding, sandboarding, to Island hopping. Now, we know why Florianopolis is recorded as the best place to live in Brazil. Kausthub says that Florianopolis is a magical Island; the slower you take it, the more tranquillity and experience you get.

The most desirable time to tour Florianopolis is between December and March, the Brazilian summer with clear skies all day that doesn’t ruin your voyaging plans.
