Flaxseeds are a high source of soluble adhesive (gumlike) fibre that reduces unhealthy cholesterol (LDL), also identified as the bad cholesterol that builds up cholesterol in the arteries.

Flaxseed is low in carbohydrates, making it an excellent option for people who are trying to curb sugar and starch consumption. It is also said that plant compounds like lignans and other phytoestrogens available in the flaxseed help decrease insulin resistance in the pre-diabetics stage, further lessen the chance of developing type-2 diabetes, and control blood sugar levels.
